Our Story
In March 2020, while studying Criminal Justice at Bemidji State, COVID-19 emerged during my spring break in Jamaica leading to classes shifting 100% online and an extended break. This changed my life path. By late April 2020, I began working in landscaping just to past the time and save up for a wedding the following year.
Later that summer, my fiancée and I decided to pursue house flipping and construction, inspired by shows like "Fixer Upper." On August 10th, 2020, we closed on our first flip. We completely gutted the interior, reconfigured the layout, and updated electrical, plumbing, insulation, and even added a new master bedroom. Amidst this, I gained extensive construction knowledge here and by working alongside another contractor for three and a half years. After a lot of thought and prayer, In August 2024, we decided to go fully independent with Gatz Homes + Renovations, specializing in general contracting, interior/exterior remodeling, custom decks and porches, and other services.
The Man Behind The Work
-
Owner/Contractor
I genuinely love what I do. When someone entrusts me with a project, I approach it with the utmost care and respect, striving to execute it to the highest standard possible. I believe God has given me these talents, and I see it as my calling to use them to help bring others’ visions to life. As it says in 1 Peter 4:10, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors—whether that’s hunting, fishing, boating, or simply relaxing by the pool. I’m blessed with a wonderful wife, two energetic young boys who keep us on our toes, and a 90-pound German Shepherd mix who completes our family. Life is busy and full, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
